In California’s Yosemite Valley there is a lot to do and see that could keep you occupied for weeks. One highlight of the area is the huge Half Dome, and you can climb it by booking a permit a few days in advance. The half day hike winds up towards a huge granite peak, and from there it can be summited with the help of a network of climbing cables.

What the view looks like on the way up to Half Dome.

Majestic view of Half Dome.

Insane view from the top of the rock.

Excellent views on the journey back down to the base of the valley.

Half Dome is a challenging experience, but isn’t out of reach to casual hikers visiting Yosemite Valley. Lots of great photo opportunities too.
