UNSW Open Day at the University of New South Wales is the flagship marketing activity of the calendar year. The annual event attracts tens of thousands of students to the campus who acquaint themselves with University’s teachers and facilities. UNSW Open Day has proven to be a very influential factor in how students select their destination for tertiary study despite strong competition from other universities.

Phil’s role was to shoot and edit a video that encapsulated the atmosphere at Open Day 2015 for the faculty of Science. The objective was to leave a lasting impression on attendees and reach a broader online audience. The video focussed on the live interactive elements of the event including engagement with live animals, a flight simulator and a chemistry demonstration.

The video itself was hosted by a senior science student and many prospective students were engaged through on camera interviews. The videos were also viewed almost 2,000 times across YouTube and Facebook, meaning the event left a lasting impression with an even wider audience than what was possible on the day itself.
